Feature Film Investor Pitch
Set against the backdrop of a working-class neighborhood in the 1950s, On the Doorstep is a coming-of-age story about friendship, family, football, and the moments that shape our lives. At its heart is a rain-soaked championship game that would become known as the Mud Bowl, where a single decision between friends changes everything.
The challenge was to translate the screenplay into a compelling investor presentation—one that would communicate not only the story and its commercial potential, but the emotional experience of watching the film.
I approached the pitch as a piece of cinematic storytelling, combining evocative imagery with concise, carefully written copy. Rather than simply describing the characters and events, I wanted prospective investors to feel the atmosphere of the neighborhood, the intensity of the football games, and the humanity at the heart of the story. Equally important was making a compelling case for the film’s commercial potential—why this story, and why audiences would connect with it.
To bring that world to life, I developed AI-assisted imagery that captured moments conventional stock photography couldn’t provide, including a rain-soaked high school football championship. I also created a distinctive title treatment, drawing on vintage sports typography and incorporating a subtle goal-line reference to reinforce the film’s identity.
The resulting presentation brought the screenplay to life as a cohesive visual and emotional experience, helping communicate the filmmakers’ vision to prospective investors.
The pitch helped secure financing for the film, which went on to attract Martin Scorsese as executive producer and complete production.
